Random News & Notes

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend.  Here are a few news items:

• Ron Mathis is the new HWA American Luchacore Champion

• Jim Ross is sticking with WWE.  He will not be on TV, but will be a consultant to talent relations, which will include him scouting and making visits to FCW.  Under Ross, WWE signed Steve Austin, The Rock, Brock Lesnar, Shelton Benjamin, and others.  He will not appear on TV, which leaves him free to pursue other non-wrestling announcing opportunities.

• The Undertaker suffered a broken orbital bone in his Smackdown match with Rey Mysterio.   It's 50/50 on whether he'll take part in the World Championship match at Fatal Four Way.

• Tonight is the season (and possibly series) finale of NXT.  The show is down to three rookies: Justin Gabriel, David Otunga, and Wade Barrett.  With Smackdown moving to SyFy, it's unclear where NXT will end up, if anywhere for its next season.
