TNA or WWE?!

Seems to be the question on everyone's mind. With both brands of wrestling on every week, one has to ask themselves, which is better? Now that World Championship Wrestling and Extreme Championship Wrestling are officially gone and out of mind. World Wrestling Entertainment has taken over by a long shot, along with its nemesis, Total Nonstop Action, now referred to as "Impact Wrestling." WWE has taken over Monday night's by storm with high profile matches. Not to mention the heart pounding roar of the crowd. It doesn't get much better than the WWE, or does it? With pay per views, weekly television shows, and sold out arenas. Many can't decide which to watch. Some watch both, others watch only one brand. I personally can’t decide. Both have their downfalls along with their respected perks.

Everyone eventually new the day would come. The two major companies today would collide head on. Since TNA's arrival on television, many didn't give it a second thought. It only took a few years for Total Nonstop Action to become a top contender on screen. Other’s thought it was just a waste of time. For both the fans and the talent involved. Fast forward a few years to October 27th, 2009. Hulk Hogan made an announcement that would literally shock the foundation of wrestling as we knew it. He and Eric Bischoff had signed a deal with Total Nonstop Action in a press conference. Taking place in the sacred halls of Madison Square Garden. Considered to be the home and birth place of World Wrestling Entertainment. Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff, now working with TNA president Dixie Carter. Attempted to make TNA the biggest name in professional wrestling.

Only months later on December 5th, 2009 another "big" announcement was made. Hulk Hogan made the broad announcement that Total Nonstop Action, which normally airs on Thursday nights, would go "head to head" with WWE Raw on Monday January 4th, in a live three-hour broadcast. In history this would be the first time since March of 2001. That two wrestling promotions would go head-to-head in a Monday night ratings competition. More than 8 years after WWE and WCW had the famous "Monday Night Wars." Hulk Hogan also said he would make his live debut. World Wrestling Entertainment, countered by announcing Bret Hart's return. Who hasn't appeared in the WWE since the famous 1997 Montreal Screw job.

As the weeks pass and both brands continue to try and outdo one another. The ratings are all that really matter in this business. The Monday night TNA's "Impact!" featured debuts from a lot of people. No one really expected to see on television again. With the likes of Scott Hall, Sean Waltman, The Nasty Boys, Jeff Hardy, and even Ric Flair himself, who had just retired from the WWE some months before. Some big names, but most didn't make it through the year. On the other end WWE was working different angles with Bret Hart. January 4th's edition of TNA's Impact was watched by more than 3 million viewers. That was when the almighty Hulk Hogan appeared. As the evening progressed towards the end of the show. The viewership had declined to 2.2 million viewers by the end of the show. TNA's highest rating in the show's history.

Professional wrestling's astonishing growing popularity over the years has attracted numerous crowds. It has attracted attention worldwide, from both sides of the pond. That being the TNA brand and the WWE brand. Wrestling has been frowned down upon as cheap entertainment over the years for the uneducated working class. Those still exist today in some aspects. Others argue that it has grown into a great spectacle. The New Year brings new beginnings in both federations. WWE not having the best pay per views ratings, thus far in the year. One can only speculate the audience growth, on television. Both companies have their up's and down's. It's hard to pick which one is actually better. The ratings prove that World Wrestling Entertainment will dominate for years to come. Regardless of any wrestling companies that want to get in their way. With all the old school talent on TNA's Impact wrestling. Also makes for good television. As far as who reigns superior? You be the judge. Tune in every week to find out the latest!
