CM Punk: The Promo, the Championship and the Fallout
The biggest story around the wrestling world is CM Punk. Punk wrestled John Cena at the Mone in the Bank pay per view in his hometown of Chicago, Ill. There were a lot of rumored scenarios that had been floating around the Internet Wrestling Community- Punk wins, threatens to leave but gets beaten fot the belt by the winner of the Raw Money in the Bank match, Punk's strong reaction in his hometown will propel him to be a babyface again and he will or has already re-signed with WWE, Punk wins and brings the belt to ROH, so on and so forth. There's also a rumor that Punk will take some time off and come back with a Ring of Honor stable including Chris Hero, Claudio Castagnoli and Colt Cabana. But what really happened shocked everyone. Punk won the championship and left the building, and the company, with it.
The WWE has to seriously consider giving Punk what he wants. Their lack of depth at the main event spots on he roster is a cause for concern. With Batista, Jericho and MVP refusing to re-sign, Triple H and Undertaker off the road, Edge being forced into retirement and former top stars like Rey Mysterio, Kane and Big Show being used to mainly put over new stars, the WWE needs a guy like Punk now to fill in the void in the main-events. Sure, the WWE has guys on the up like Dolph Ziggler, Wade Barrett, Cody Rhodes, John Morrison and others to fill in those slots, but they're not quite ready to be big players in the main event picture just yet. CM Punk is the complete package, a rare breed in the wrestling business nowadays. He's paid his dues, worked his tail off and has proven that he belongs in the main event.

But even so, Punk is far from a model employee. Punk has disregarded the dress code on occasions, openly criticized the WWE product and the McMahon/Levesque regime and was recently videotaped using a gay slur at and audience member. Some say that if the WWE does indeed re sign Punk, it sends a bad message to the locker room. But by not having the ability to res sign Punk, that sends just as bad of a message to the locker room after seeing Jericho, MVP, Batista and Chavo Guererro either refusing to re sign or walk out. But, Punk has helped create the hottest angle in a very long time. Punk is the hottest wrestling commodity out there and his twitter updates with the WWE championship are feuling the fire.
There is still no answer as to what CM Punk's WWE status is but being that he is still a heavy focal point on WWE's flagship show is somewhat telling. For me, i haven't been this excited about a wrestling angle since the Nexus debuted on Raw. And with rumors of the WWE starting a working relationship with Ring of Honor, it makes me want to see the playing out of the angle even more. All iIhope is that the WWE doesn't screw this up too bad and we as fans can sit back and enjoy the ride.
